English is the section most Habib applicants think they can wing. They can't. The Reading passages are denser than they look, the Writing section rewards structure over grammar, and the essay is graded across three separate rubric strands. Preparation moves scores here more predictably than in math.
Practise reading each passage in full before touching any questions. Time yourself, and keep a note of the specific question types you get wrong, inference, main idea, vocabulary in context, evidence-based reasoning. That's the map for what to drill next.
The Accuplacer Writing section blends micro edits (grammar, punctuation) with macro revisions (adding, cutting, or reordering sentences). Grammar-strong applicants often bomb the macro edits because they need a reader's ear, not a rulebook.
The essay is the single most recoverable component of the English score. Three timed prompts a week with real review moves your essay band more than any reading list. Look at whether your thesis is arguable, whether each paragraph makes an argument, and whether your conclusion adds anything.
