The Accuplacer English sections are underestimated by nearly every Habib applicant whose first language is English. The passages are harder than they look, and the writing section rewards structural thinking, not just grammar.
You'll see literary, historical, and scientific passages. The questions are less about facts in the passage and more about the shape of the argument, main idea, tone, implication, and the relationship between paragraphs. Vocabulary-in-context questions look easy and are where most students lose an easy point.
Two flavours of question: micro-level edits (grammar, punctuation, word choice) and macro-level revisions (adding, cutting, or reordering a sentence for rhetorical effect). Students strong in grammar often bomb the second type because it needs a reader's ear, not a rule book.
Read passages first, in full, before touching questions. Every skimmer's shortcut costs more time on re-reads than it saves. On Writing, learn to ask 'what is this paragraph trying to do?', the answer to that question determines the correct edit more often than any grammar rule.
