The Accuplacer writing section is not a grammar test. It's a rhetorical revision test with grammar folded in. The applicants who score highest are the ones who read paragraphs like editors, always asking what the paragraph is doing, not just what it says.
The commonest trap is 'more is better', the shortest grammatical option is usually the correct one. Another: assuming the current sentence order is right because it reads fine aloud; the test rewards edits that improve flow, not edits that avoid it.
Aim for one minute per question on your first pass. If a question needs more, flag it and move on. The section is short and adaptive, so getting to every question in time matters more than nailing a single tough revision.
